Part of the “1 Book. 1 Lesson. 1 Step Forward.” Summer Series

There is a moment in The Let Them Theory where Mel Robbins lays it out in my kind of way, directly:

When people act in ways that confuse, frustrate, or disappoint us… let them.

Let them misunderstand you.

Let them not invite you.

Let them doubt you.

Let them go.

It sounds harsh, sure. But it is anything but. It is powerful. Because in letting them, I finally started letting me.

Let them scroll past without liking the post you worked hard on (God knows that happens).

Let them make assumptions instead of asking.

Let them choose what they choose—even, and this is the hardest part, if it is not you.

Because the truth is, people will do what they do.

And when I stop trying to control their narrative, I start writing mine.

Here is what I have been learning so far:

When I let them, I let me…

• Focus more on impact than feeling

• Choose presence over performance

• Stop explaining myself to people committed to misunderstanding me

• Hold space for what matters most to me—my faith, my family, and the kind of friend and leader I want to become

Letting go does not mean giving up. It means making room.

Room for grace.

Room for growth.

Room for God to do what only He can do.

So today, join me—or don’t—and let them go silent.

Let them underestimate.

Let them walk away.

Let them live their life.

Because I have mine to live. And so do you.
